** GRAND FINAL 2003 **

Berwick VS Carrum Downs at Berwick

After a washout the week before and the constant but much needed rain, the ground needed a bit of work to get it up to scratch to play a Grand Final on. The Berwick women and a few helpers worked hard to prepare a surface to accommodate the final battle for the 2003 season. (Thank you all!)

Carrum Downs fired the first shot by scoring 1 run in the first with a couple of runners left on. Berwick showed great defence to close out the innings before they could score any more runs. The girls from Carrum Downs needed to restrict Berwick's offence before they could answer back with the bats.

Once again Berwick more than replied by scoring 5 runs with a few stolen bases in the first innings, letting Carrum Downs know this was not going to be easy. Carrum Downs needed to score immediately to stay in the game, but Simone Wearne put them out of the game by shutting Carrum Downs out until the Grand Final was Berwick's.

With plenty of hitting and constant aggressive running, Berwick's women continued to score claiming the title 8 - 1.

Well done Deb, Sharni, Emma, Kara, Kristol, Simone, Paula, Shae, Jade, Siobhan, Narelle, Mandi, Rebecca and Shandelle.
