A1 - Berwick (Bye)

A2 - Berwick (Bye)

A3 - Berwick 26 def. Cheltenham Rustlers 5.

The boys took on the new-comers of the competition, the Cheltenham Rustlers, who are made up from a bunch of very enthusiastic guys who filled in the bye position. Once again, Andrew Hemmes started the game and did a good job, striking out 9 batters and only allowing 3 hits from his 41/2 innings and Quinny relieving for 1 1/2 inning, even having a 5 pitch, 6th innings. In the batting department, Quinny had a "Best-on-ground" day out with some power hitting with 5 hits and 7 R.B.I.'s, including an "In the Park" home run. Team Gibbo are having a tremendous battle between themselves with 7 hits & 6 R.B.I.'s between them, with Gibbo junior also hitting an "In the Park" home run. Start getting scared Symbol, the boy is only 6 points behind you now. Other hits went to Kristol, who had a great game with 2 hits and singles to Team Peulen, Dick, Gebba, Brad and Andrew H.

A4 - Berwick 4 lost to Dandenong Blue 10.

Under 16 - Berwick 3 def. Dingley 2.

A very tight defensive game was played between Dingley and the boys, who are looking for a place in the finals with two weeks to go and came away with a last innings victory winning 3-2. Great pitching was the order of the day with Adam Silva having a great day on the mound with Dingley scoring only two unearned runs but striking out 10 of the Dingley bats, then Sam Beasley coming on in relief and doing an extremely good job, not letting up any runs. Alex Brett had a great day in the batting box with two good hits against Dingley and U16 Provincial pitcher, Matt Kennedy. Other hits went to Adam Silva, Sam Beasley and Craig Durdin. What a fantastic team effort from all the boys and proves that a games not over until the last pitch is thrown. Well Done.

Under 14 - Berwick 13 def. Mornington 4.

With a great start to the game from Ethan Laurie being starter pitcher, with a strike out, making the 1st out, then with a walk to the next batter, letting him on base cost us a run with a couple of hits from other batters. then Ethan struck out 2 more batters, making the 3rd out and 1 run scored. So now our turn to bat, with Hayden Thomas getting a safe hit to centre field, getting to 1st base, then with some aggressive running stealing to 3rd base, with a wild pitch from their batter bringing him home for our first run for the game.. 2nd inning pitching again with a great start from Ethan with a another strike out next batter out caught stealing then a fly ball being caught by Ethan, making the 3rd out with 0 runs scored in this innings by Mornington. Mathew up to bat first in the 2nd inning, with a few swings almost connecting but just missed, so that was our first out, a hit from Paul Klimisch but they threw him out at 1st base just before he made it, making 2 out, then Mitchell Kmet was up to bat, hitting a huge hit threw the cones at left field putting him on 2nd base, then a stolen base from him putting him on 3rd base, waiting to come home, then Chilly got a walk to 1st base, and a steal to 2nd base, with Jesse Gavin up to bat next, hitting a 3 base hit to left field bring in the 2 on base, Daniel Wood continuing with the BIG hits also hitting a 3 base hit to centre field, bringing in our 3rd run for the inning so far, a walk for Chris Denny and a couple of wild pitches letting us score another 2 runs, Ethan Laurie with a 2 base hit to centre field, a walk to Jake Bone, then Hayden Thomas getting hit with the ball, bringing Samuel Drane up to bat, hitting a 2 base hit to centre field bring in the other 2 runs, making it 8 runs for the inning. With this innings being Ethan's last inning he started it off again with a strike out, then with an error and a couple of hits Mornington scored 3 unearned runs, Ethan then shut them down with another strike out making the 3rd out but leaving them with a total of 4 runs. Our first batter for the 3rd inning was Dean McCort, with a safe hit to left field, a couple of strike outs a walk for Paul Klimisch, and another strike out leaving 2 on base. Our next pitcher was Matthew Chilcott, with a throw from Samuel Drane(playing catcher) picking up the hit ball, throwing the batter out at 1st base.  Then the next 2 batters getting hit by the ball and some great fielding by the team making 3 out, leaving them with another scoreless inning. Matthew Chilcott being our first batter, being hit by the ball.......wonder why.....then with a couple of stolen bases, then Chilly came home on a wild pitch. Bringing Jesse up to bat, hitting a huge Home Run in left field, with our next batter being Daniel Wood, on a HUGE hitting steak, also hitting a BOMB of a Home Run also to left field, making us 3 runs already.  Chris Denny being patient at the plate, getting a walk to 1st base, a safe hit for Ethan Laurie and Jake Bone, a couple of strike outs, a walk and a put out at 2nd base, shutting us down with 3 runs for the inning, bringing our total to 13. With Chilly feeling bad about hitting a couple of batters(not that you meant it Chilly, it happens) Jesse Gavin came in to be our 3rd pitcher for the game, shutting them down with 2 strike outs and a hit straight to him throwing the batter out at 1st base, making the 3rd out, making it time and game. So yet another win for the Berwick Dodgers, winning 13 to 4.

Still a couple of game to go so fingers crossed, next game for us is against Cheltenham White at Cheltenham.  Good luck boys.
