Although the contest was even early the Dodgers broke loose in the 5th innings on a solo home run to Scott Wearne followed by one of JJ O'conners 4 hits and a timely rbi double by Rob Hogan to take a 2nil lead and with the Tomatoe bats struggling against a resurgent Glen Richards 5 more runs in the 6th put the game out of reach. Richards got the win allowing only 2 hits through his 8 innings and Rob Hogan closed out the last, an important victory for the Dodgers who now sit in second spot. best hitters were JJ O'conner with 4, Peter Higgins and Adam Silva with 2 and one each to Scott Wearne, Glen Mascoll, Rob Hogan and Matt Greene

A3 - Berwick 6 lost to Bonbeach 8.
On a cold, icy day at Bonbeach, the boys were fighting for a final four spot and unfortuneately came up short losing 8-6. Even with 17 hits for the game, we could only score the 6 runs leaving 10 runners on base. Hits went to Bull with 4, Tooly with 3, Rowan and the coach with 2 and singles to Dick, Gibbo, Andrew H, Cam B and Symbol, who hit a home run in the 9th innings, but didn't count as the score reverted back to even innings. Andrew Hemmes started the game and was replaced by Bull in the second and threw well for the rest of the game.
A4 - Berwick 12 def. Bonbeach 2.
This week we travelled to a blustery Bonbeach in a must win game to consolidate our spot in the final four. We faced the same pitcher that had humbled us and kept us to 1 run on our last meeting, so I stressed the importance of a positive start and putting some scoreboard pressure on the opposition early. We did exactly that, posting 5 runs in the first. Shayne Nyholm – Hunter took control on the hill from the first batter and with the help of Stevie Johnson behind the dish put the clamp on the Bonbeach hitters. We continued to bat the ball and field well adding the odd run or 2 along the way. All 13 players who took to the field competed to the absolute best of their ability with Brian “Beefa” Lees the standout with the bat (5RBI's), and the welcome return of Marty “the rabbit” Kmet with a double first up, keeping the runs ticking along. Final score Berwick 12 Bonbeach 2. Well done team. I saw a determination about the way we played, that gave me an inkling that we will continue in our quest after the bye when we start our run towards the finals at Dandenong.
Till then – see you on the diamond.
Roger Greene.
Womens - Berwick 24 def. Moorabin 3.
Played against Moorabbin this week, what a game it was, starting off with the bats this week, with some aggressive hitting from all of the team, everyone got hits. Lead off pitcher for the Dodgers was Simone (Moby) pitching the whole game only 2 runs being scored for Moorabbin. Catching this week was Kristol, always doing a great job. Really great fielding from Olga at 2nd base, Leanne again an outstanding effort at 1st base. Jess Lees at 3rd base. Gill (DT) at short stop. Also Mel at short stop. Outfielders Jolene, Cas and Gabby. Home run hit from Jess Lees, 5 hits from Simone, hitting the ball hard this week was Jolene and Olga. Some aggressive running from Gabby, Kristol and Jolene. It was one of the best batting games that the Dodgers have had, just need to brush up a little in the field and look out in the finals. Very impressive from all the women who have just started playing this season, you have really improved, with more to come.
It was a PICTURE PERFECT GAME.....LOL
Well done Dodgers, lets keep it going.
Next game is back at Moorabbin at 12.30 playing against Doncaster.
Will be a very interesting game, hope to see you all there to cheer us on.
Under 16 - Berwick 18 def. Frankston Red 3.
the boys took on a very young Frankston red today and came away with a 18-3 win. The in-form, Tim Evans had another day out with the bat with 3 hits and scoring 4 R.B.I's. Sam B also had 3 hits, Ryan, Turtle and Craig D with 2 and singles to Chilly, Woody and Jesse who hit his 4th home run for the season. In the pitching, Chilly started the game for 2 innings and struck out 5 frankston hitters before being replaced by Craig B who threw very well for the last 3 innings of the game.
