In the battle of the top 2 teams the Dodgers came out as easy winners registering their first victory over the Rustlers for many years. Glen Richards once again got the start for the Dodgers and although not as dominant as last week held the powerful Rustler line up to just 3 runs through 5 1/3 innings 1 2/3 innings of solid relief from Rob Hogan yielded just 1 unearned run and closer Scott Wearne registered the last out of the day before the conditions became a little to gloomy and the game was called early. Great hitting in the 3rd set the tone for the game with the Dodgers scoring 6 and with 3 more in the 4th and 1 in the 7th the game had slipped away from the Rustlers. The win should guarentee a finals berth with just 3 games remaining and having beaten all teams so far the Dodgers will go into the play offs full of confidence Best Hitters were Adam Bonaddio, JJ O' conner and Glen Richards with 2 and Adam Silva Scott Wearne , Matt Greene and Peter Higgins with 1
A2 - Berwick 0 lost to Cheltenham 5.
Once again the battle between the top 2 teams with the Rustlers only having the 1 loss for the year which was against the Dodgers in their first encounter. Unfortunately the undermanned Dodgers struggled all day against some very good pitching and although threatening on several occassions couldnt trouble the scorers and even restricting the rustlers to just 6 hits and playing some reasonable defencecouldnt stop the Rustlers from cruising to victory, Best Hitters were Mick Wearne and Shaun Fahy with 1 each
A3 - Berwick
A4 - Berwick 1 lost to DIngley White 6.
We took on third place Dingley and were unable to come away with the game, losing 6-1. Bull started the game and pitched for 7 innings before being replaced by Andrew Hemmes, keeping Dingley scoreless for the last 2 innings. In the batting, the young boys had a good day with Woody and Andrew H with 2 hits each and singles going to Dick, Gibbo, Symbol, Tooly, Cam and Rowan.
Womens - Berwick
Well where do i start. I suppose i will start with Simone (MOBY) being lead off pitcher this week, again pitching an outstanding game with 15 strike outs for the whole game. Also catching a great game again was Kristol. With some ordinary fielding from their other team mates letting them both down this week. Only 1 hit from the Dodgers this week also, after a great day out last week with the bats we were very quiet this week. Not being able to find the spots, or swinging at the high balls. Still scoring 5 runs. With an attempt to steal from Mel to 2nd base, landing badly on her leg to have the ambulance called to take her to hospital, after hearing something pop behind her knee. A nice hit from Kristol to centre field with a lucky catch from Doncaster. We just need to keep it together for the whole game and we can do this. Some aggression with fielding the ball, and chasing it down. We can get through to the grand final, so lets pull it together ladies and kick some ass!!!! Update on Mel was nothing is broken, but sent home on crutches to see her doctor ASAP. Hope to have you back soon Mel. Big thanks to Rosa for helping us out today too. Great pitching Simone, will back you up next time!!!! Next week playing at Doncaster against Monash Uni at 12.30pm.
Under 16 - Berwick 4 lost to Dandenong 5.
The boys took on fifth place Dandenong and couldn't come away with the win, losing 5-4. The Dandenong pitcher had a good day out striking out 11 of our bats and we could only manage 4 hits for the game. Hits going to Craig B, Chilly, Turtle and Craig D. In the pitching, Chilly started the game and then was replaced by Jesse for the last 3 1/3 innings keeping Dandenong scoreless.
