A3 - Berwick 4 lost to Dandenong 15.

The boys took on dandenong to stay in touch with the finals, but unfortuneately could not come away with a win, losing 15-4. The coach started the game and kept the dandy bats quiet for the first 3 innings and was replaced by Adrew Hemmes who threw for 3 innings and Cam Boucher finished the game. In the batting, we only got 8 hits for the game Mark Gibbens and the coach with 2 hits each and singles to Tooly, Bull, Andrew H and Sam O'Connor.

A4 - Berwick 4 def. Dandenong 2.

The weather of the previous 2 games was a distant memory as we arrived at a sun drenched Kidd Rd on Saturday. With Simone winging her way to Japan for 2 weeks R & R, I tossed the ball to Brian Lees to start against the Angels import, who managed to load the bases in the first, but escaped any pain when the shortstop hung on to a laser from “Willy” Carpenter stranding the runners as he turned the double. The Angels put the first run on the board in the bottom of the first and the chase was on. Terry Van Iersel led off in the second and showed great determination and aggressive base running to post our first run. This was a great motivator for our guys and the team noticeably lifted its rating. The game became a tight contest as we wheeled out Marty “Mc Fly” and PK in the 4 th dig and both were straight into the action with PK lone handing the inning at third. Our hits were few and scattered, but we managed to take a 1 run lead into the 7 th . Beefa was happy to go all the way and iced the game, backed by some good out fielding from the three stooges, held a 2 run lead into the bottom of the inning. Final score Berwick 4 Dandenong 2. A Solid showing against a spirited Angels outfit. Next week we host ladder leaders Cheltenham .

Till then – see you on the diamond.

Womens - Berwick 2 lost to Monash Uni 17.

Played Monash at Doncaster.  With just the 9 players this week, finding it a bit tough, but we had a bit of fun as usual. Lead off pitcher was Deb, doing a great job but not getting a few calls this week.  To be replaced by Jess Lees, throwing the ball hard as normal.  Then Kristol having a pitch to finish the game and she did a great job. Hits this week, were, Gabby, Rosa,Kristol and any one else i forgot. Just need to brush up a little out in the field and no some plays as to where to throw the ball and make some plays that we should be making. Great catch this week from Olga at 2nd base.  Great catching from Kristol again this week.  Well done to Leanne Shane at 1st base. Over all we went down 17 to 2. At Sandringham this week at 3.00pm

Under 16 - Berwick 3 lost to Dingley Blue 8.

The team took on Dingley Blue in the knock-out final this morning, but couldn't keep their excellent season rolling along, losing 8-3. Jesse Gavin started the game and went very well for the first 4 innings, when the Dingley bats got some good and some very lucky hits which cost our boys in the end. Craig B replaced Jesse fought the gam out. Our bats were quiet for the day, with only 4 hits for the game. Hits going to Craig B, Sam, Jesse and Ryan Shane. Keep your heads up boys, as you all did very well for the season, only being beaten by a better team on the day. Well done to you all.
