Another dissapointing performance for the inconsistent Dodgers with erratic pitching once again allowing the opposition to maintain scoreboard pressure throughout the game, and although drawing close with a 5 run 4th inning the Dodgers couldnt keep the momentum up and went down without a fight Best Hitters Scott Wearne with 2 and one each to Adam Bonaddio, Glen Mascoll, Glen Richards, JJ Oconner and Matt Greene On a better note, 2 of the Dodgers brightest young stars are of to the major leauge academy on the Gold Coast for the next 8 weeks and we wish them well
A2 - Berwick 7 def. Dandenong 3.
Although being out hit 6 hits to 5, the young Dodgers capitalised on some errant pitching from the Angels young starter and with solid defence held the Angels out for the last 6 innings to record the victory. Best Hitters Tim Laird and John Oconner with 2 and Brad Mascoll with 1
A3 - Berwick 14 def. Bonbeach 4.
A very happy coach saw his chargers hit our straps and coming away with a convincing 14 - 4 win. Bull controlled the pitching in 7 innings only giving up 4 runs with 8 strike outs. In the batting, Bull again, had a good day with a home run over centre field and scoring 5 R.B.I's. Others hits went Symbol and the coach with 3 each, tooly with 2 and singles to Dick, Gibbo Jnr, Rowan and Cam. Now with the master going oversea's for 9 weeks, final Team Peulen R.B.I. count. Master 9, the Appentice 8. Ha, Dads rock. Hoping you have a great holiday Rene.
A4 - Berwick 2 lost to Bonbeach 20.
This week we hosted Bonbeach at “Cyril” in gloomy and drissly conditions. After our almost perfect defensive performance the week prior, I was stunned to witness what would become our wost defensive effort in recent memory. Simone Wearne struggled to come to grips with the conditions and we contributed to our plight giving up 13 runs on the back of 7 errors before Simone pulled the pin after 3. With “Beefa” Lees strutting to the hill to relieve with half his thumb missing he gutsed out the remaining 4 digs giving up a further 7 runs on 6 errors. I made about 7 changes to reset the line up, but our bats remained cold with us only able to score 3 runs off a hit from “Beefa” with 1 hand , a double to Marty “The Rabbit” Kmet and a “Ribbie” to Brucey Cusack was all we could manage. Final score Bonbeach 20 Berwick 2. A long way short of our best. We make the turn well placed for the run home, but we need to perform week in and week out, with more consistency and ticker, to cause any concerns come finals time. After the break and the bye we start again at home to Dandenong.
Till then – see you on the diamond.
Roger Greene.
Womens - Berwick 14 def. Sandringham 4.
Played against Sandringham, who were a really fun team to play against. Being Shae's last week for us as she is heading off to Japan to play baseball there for 3 months. Again she did not disappoint, hitting another home run. Olga getting home scoring a run which we will never forget. Great play from Leanne Shane this week at first base. Awesome pitching from Cas this week. Walking away with a win 14 to 4. GOOD LUCK SHAE and hurry back.
Under 16 - Berwick 13 def. Dingley Gold 5.
The boys took on Dingley and after the game being reverted back from 20 - 5, they came away with a 13 - 5 win. The Chilcott / Gavin pitching combination kept the Dingley bats quiet with only 2 hits for the game. In the hitting, Sam Beasley had a day out with 3 hits and R.B.I's. Other hits went to Craig B, Turtle, Scott & Ryan with 2 and singles to Anthony, Craig D & Tim.
