Round 8.

A1 - Berwick 3 def. Bonbeach 1.

Finally the Dodgers pitching found some control and the game took on a very different complexion. Scott Wearne went the complete 9 against the ladder leading Bluejays, striking out 10 and walking just the one. Backed by some solid defence the Bluejays struggled for scoring opportunities, producing only 5 hits and not really looking like ever mounting a serious challenge. Glenn “Ferrett” Mascoll's 2 run bomb in the 5 th gave the Dodgers a 3-1 lead and a solo Home run to Glen Richards in the 8 th added some insurance. Best hitters for the day were Higgo with 2 and everyone else with 1.

A2 - Berwick 9 def. Bonbeach 1.

Berwick continued on their winning way with a comprehensive 9-1 victory with Adam Bonaddio on the hill, throwing the entire 9 innings and striking out 13 and walking just the one. The bats came alive as well after a couple of lean weeks with eleven hits and the entire team contributing. Well done to all let's keep it going against the Tomatoes at the patch on Saturday.

A3 - Berwick 11 def. Dingley White 1.

The boys took on the Butcher and his band of merry men, and in a game played in good spirit, we came away with a 11 - 1 win. Us old blokes got to witness the brilliance of Sam Beasley, who picked up 3 hits, 4 R.B.I's and roamed around centre field and caught everything that went his way. Other hits went to Dick and Symbol with 2 each and singles went to Bull, Rowan, Cam and young Jesse Gavin who filled in for us admirably this week. In the pitching, Bull had another easy week out only throwing 78 pitches (57S - 21B) for the game, with the opposition only getting 4 hits in 7 innings.

A4 - Berwick - Bye.

Womens - Berwick 1 lost to Melbourne Uni 20.

Played against Melbourne Uni. Starting on the mound was Simone, with great pace and positioning of the ball.  Pitching some great pitches, but Melbourne Uni getting a few hits and some luck, scoring a few runs. Leading off in the batting for us was Kelly, with a nice hit, getting on base, next up with Leanne, moving Kelly on, then with a great hit from Simone to bring Kelly home, being our only run for the game.  Some great fielding from Mel at 2nd base, getting a few outs.  AWESOME effort from Leanne Shane again at 1st base this week.  A catch from Gill in centre field.  A great fielding play from Cas at 3rd base.  A great hit from Jolene.  Over all it was a great game unfortunately going down with a 20 to 1 loss, but over all, every one has improved so much and they can definitely hold their heads high, great game by all.  Best play of all for the day was OLGA and her Indian call.  Sounds great.

Next weeks game is at Monash at 12.30 against Moorabbin.

Hope to see you all there!!

Under 16 - Berwick 1 lost to Cheltenham White 3.

On a cold saturday morning, we saw one of the games of the season between our boys and Cheltenham White, but unfortuneately it was one of those games where someone had to lose going down 3 - 1. It was a very tight defensive game which was only seperated by a 3 run shot over the left field cones by one of the Cheltenham batsman. The boys could only muster 5 hits for the games, going to Chilly, Craig D, Woody and the in-form Tim Evans.
